As the Green Bay Packers have been one of the most inactive teams in the NFL since the start of free agency—adding just three new players to the roster—there's a lot of pressure on general manager Brian Gutekunst and head coach Matt LaFleur to make the most of the upcoming draft, which is less than a month away.
It's no secret that Green Bay needs help at the wide receiver position, especially with Christian Watson expected to miss a chunk of the 2025 season after suffering a torn ACL in the Packers' regular-season finale against the Chicago Bears.
Now, whether Green Bay bucks traditions and takes a wideout in the first round for the first time since 2002 remains to be seen. But they'll certainly have several options from which to choose if they go that route with the 23rd overall pick.
One such option could be former Alabama and Texas standout Isaiah Bond, with whom the Packers are reportedly set to meet in the near future.
The Packers are one of several teams Isaiah Bond is scheduled to meet ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft
Per Texas Longhorns insider CJ Vogel, Bond is set for meetings with the Packers, Bears, Rams, and Falcons ahead of the draft, which Green Bay will host from April 24-26.
At 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds, Bond doesn't fit the typical mold of a Green Bay wideout, as LaFleur tends to like bigger receivers. However, as the Georgia native ran a 4.39 40 at the NFL Scouting Combine, LaFleur may choose to ignore the size element in this case.
That said, though, size may not be the only turnoff here.
For starters, some have raised concerns about Bond's character stemming from his transfer from the Crimson Tide to the Longhorns ahead of this past season.
Then, there's the fact that he didn't post big numbers in 2024, catching 34 passes for 540 yards with five touchdowns, adding another 98 yards and a score on the ground.
To that end, however, one undoubtedly has to take into account that Bond was the second option behind Matthew Golden, who most view as one of the top three receivers in this year's draft class.
Bond is currently ranked 10th among wideouts by ESPN, which brings an interesting scenario into play if the Packers end up being interested after meeting with him.
While some mock drafts have the 21-year-old going in the first round, others have him dropping to Day 2.
It seems unfathomable that Bond would still be available when Green Bay's second-round pick rolls around at No. 54 overall. But if that happens, would the Packers overlook some of the concerns surrounding him and add him to the roster?
