Packers are pushing for the perfect revenge on Eagles this offseason

Bravery doesn't come cheap in the NFL.

The greats are never appreciated in their time.

Packers fans should probably just keep repeating that to themselves, over and over again, for the next week or so because reader, things are going to get ugly.

The NFL Rules Committee is meeting this week, which always has a way of providing great fodder during what's otherwise an extremely uninteresting part of the league calendar. This year proved no different: the Packers – on a divine mission to right the league's egregious wrongs – took a brave stand and boldly proclaimed what everyone else is still scared to whisper even in their most private moments: the tush push is dumb. Not only is it dumb, but it needs to be stopped.

At least, I assume that's what they said. In a new report from The Athletic's NFL Senior Writer Dianna Russini, the Packers were the lone team that officially requested the league end the tush push once and for all next season.

The Packers are brave enough to publicly admit that the Tush Push is annoying

"The Green Bay Packers are the team that submitted a proposal to the NFL's competition committee to ban the tush push, per sources," Russini reported on Monday afternoon.

I feel obligated to quickly get one thought out of the way first: this is very dopey. There is no chance that the league is going to ban the tush push, and I don't think I really understand the Packers' willingness to take such a public L for no reason.

However, way more importantly, I respect the hell out of it. What's the point of being *the Green Bay Packers* if you're not going to try to throw that name around a little bit? Someone has to be brave enough to admit that the Tush Push is no longer cute or fun or interesting. I'll never get those 15 minutes from the NFC Championship Game goal-line fiasco back, and I solely blame the Eagles for that. If someone has to be a giant crybaby in order to kill the vibes in Philly just a tiny bit, I'm glad the Packers are willing to fall on that sword.

Remember: at one point, people thought the earth was flat. The internet was once considered a fad. People were even skeptical of cheeseburgers when they first showed up on the scene. The long arc of society is littered with good ideas that took longer than they should to gain momentum, and this is just the latest example. The Packers will be vindicated one day, it just might not* (definitely won't*) be anytime soon. But being on the right side of history is never a bad thing.
