Ever since the Green Bay Packers drafted Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden in the first round of this year's draft, there's been this kinda awkward wait to see what happens next.

The Packers' much-discussed room full of young stars hasn't quite developed the way everyone assumed they would, and at least one of them is probably signing their second contract with another team.

Initially, that looked like Christian Watson. Golden profiles as someone similar to Watson, which led lots of people – including his own dad – to jump to the conclusion that the clock was maaaaayyyyybe ticking on his tenure in Green Bay.

The good news (for the Watson family, at least) is that the latest round of Packers receivers rumors features [exciting drum roll] Romeo Doubs! According to a sports radio host out of Pittsburgh, after trading George Pickens to the Cowboys this week, the Steelers have started focusing on replacing him with Doubs.

Romeo Doubs could be the odd man out in Green Bay according to Pittsburgh media

"The Steelers have inquired about Packers WR Romeo Doubs. Green Bay drafted 2 WRs," Andrew Fillipponi of 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh tweeted on Thursday. "And Aaron Rodgers played with Doubs in 2022. It's believed Rodgers really likes Doubs. We'll see where this goes."

It is believed that Rodgers really liked Doubs is such a Journalism In 2025 sentence, I love it. We'll see where this goes! That's the hedge of a pro's pro. It is believed that I really like nerd clusters, we'll see where this goes.

Ultimately, this does make a ton of sense. The Packers aren't keeping all their guys, and it was only a matter of time before the offseason wide receiver carousel found its way to Green Bay. Honestly, at this point, it feels more like a matter of when and who than if. Still, it's nice to know that even now, there are still some Aaron Rodgers-related buzz to be had about the Packers. Nostalgia really does play.
