The Green Bay Packers aren't done yet.
After switching their attention to defense on Day 3 of the NFL Draft, general manager Brian Gutekunst has found more help for defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley just moments after it finished.
As teams race to sign the best undrafted free agents, the Packers landed a great deal by reportedly signing defensive lineman Nazir Stackhouse. According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, the Georgia star is Green Bay-bound.
This is a smart addition, and Stackhouse has a more-than-realistic shot at making the 53-man roster.
The Packers love to give undrafted rookies an opportunity, and Stackhouse can quickly find a role as part of the defensive line rotation.
Packers bolster their defensive line immediately after the draft with Nazir Stackhouse signing
The Packers missed out on many of the best defensive line prospects (thanks, Robert Saleh), but they landed a talented player immediately after the draft.
Stackhouse is a two-time second-team All-SEC. He only made three sacks across five seasons for Georgia, but that's not his strength. While Stackhouse won't consistently pressure quarterbacks, he is an excellent run defender and can find a role in Green Bay's defense. Initially, he can provide cover at nose tackle.
That's exactly what the Packers need after losing T.J. Slaton in free agency.
Green Bay drafted defensive tackle Warren Brinson earlier in the day, who played on the same defensive line as Stackhouse in Georgia. Together, they add important depth.
The Packers love adding defenders from Georgia. They will play on the same defensive line as another former Bulldog, Devonte Wyatt. Hafley's defense also features Quay Walker and Javon Bullard.
Stackhouse has an excellent chance of making the 53-man roster and earning snaps immediately. He won't play a featured role but can make an instant impact as a two-down run defender.
