Oh, this would be big.

As training camps wrap up and the Green Bay Packers head toward the regular season, there might still be some opportunities for this team to make a surprise move. And, if you asked fans, there are a couple of areas this team could use just a bit more.

One of those areas is in the pass rush, but the latest developments could end up leading the Packers to finding more than just a depth piece. Remember when the Packers went out and signed Julius Peppers, and how much of a difference he made in that defense?

Now, the Packers have another opportunity to do something just as big. Cincinnati Bengals pass rusher Trey Hendrickson might just get traded after all, as the team is listening to offers for last year's sack leader.

Trey Hendrickson's price tag is something the Packers could easily oblige with

The Athletic's Dianna Russini has reported that the Bengals are asking for a 2026 first-round pick along with a young defensive player in exchange for Hendrickson.

So, why not the Packers?

Hendrickson, 30, is entering the final year of his contract. For months now, the Bengals have not been willing to give him the guarantees he is requesting in a new deal. At this point, a trade feels imminent. Cincinnati has messed this up beyond repair, and they'd better try to get something for Hendrickson rather than seeing him walk in free agency next spring.

The Packers could get awfully aggressive, here. If they wanted to ensure a deal the Bengals wouldn't be able to refuse, why not offer a recent first-round talent in Lukas Van Ness along with their 2026 first-round pick?

This would essentially guarantee the Packers get an extension done with Hendrickson, so he'll be around for the long haul. The Packers would then have Hendrickson and Rashan Gary as their top two pass rushers, plus the playmakers at both linebacker and safety (hello Edgerrin Cooper and Xavier McKinney).

No more waiting on a Van Ness breakout. Nope, they now have a proven pass rusher who is a plug-and-play defensive captain.

Van Ness and a first rounder for Hendrickson... how would the Packers refuse? The only question is, would the Bengals take the bait?
