Packers 'went nuts' on flight home after watching Bears lose on a Hail Mary
In case you had simply had enough football after the Green Bay Packers' laborious Week 8 win in Jacksonville, I have some wonderful news for you: the Chicago Bears lost in the absolute funniest way possible.
And I mean that in the truest sense of the word – I cannot think of a funnier way for a team to lose than the way the Bears did on Sunday night.
After scoring to take the lead with barely any time remaining, the Bears' "elite" defense went into the most passive form of prevent defense you'll ever see and allowed the Washington Commanders to comfortably hit a 10-yard out with six seconds left to get them into Hail Mary position.
Then, as some of their players had their back turned to the play while taunting the crowd, Jayden Daniels tossed up a 50-yard bomb that bounced off a bunch of Bears players hands before landing softly in the arms of tight end Noah Brown. If you haven't seen the replay, I highly recommend it.

The Packers saw it. In fact, the Packers – who were on the flight home celebrating a win – were so excited about the Bears' loss that they hopped on Twitter mid-flight to post about it. At least, that's what former player turned radio analyst John Kuhn did. This is why they're the best rivalry in football. People say Twitter sucks now but there are still glimmers of joy there, you've just gotta poke around.
Packers mid-flight celebration of Bears loss is NFL pettiness at its finest
What a great day is right. This is where a Bears fan might point out that even watching their game while on the flight home from Jacksonville shows how much Chicago stays in Packers fans' head (rent-controlled!) but I don't think so.
I think this is just what great rivalries are about. The only thing more enjoyable than winning your own game is seeing a team you hate lose. An 18-0 Packers season would be historic, but an 0-18 Bears season would be legendary.
And considering the NFC North is about to get extremely real over the next eight months – Chicago still has to play every division game – this was just also objectively a huge result for the Packers. If such a large gut-punch loss just so happened to break the Bears and tank their season, so be it. Someone's gotta finish last in the division.
