Packers' WR injury crisis takes turn for worse ahead of MNF showdown with Eagles

Matt LaFleur must be experiencing some nightmare-inducing de ja vu.

It's challenging enough trying to beat the Philadelphia Eagles with a fully healthy roster, but he may have to do it with a makeshift receiving corps. Again.

Green Bay entered last season's wild-card loss in Philadelphia without Christian Watson, who had suffered a torn ACL a week earlier. Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed exited midgame and couldn't return, leaving the Packers with no hope.

With the Monday Night Football rematch just days away, LaFleur has to scramble for a backup plan once more. Like last year, he must rework his offense having lost a key piece to a torn ACL. This time, it's Tucker Kraft, who suffered a season-ending injury in last week's loss to the Carolina Panthers.

On top of that, five wide receivers feature on the Packers' injury report, and the concerns have only deepened as the week has progressed.

Packers' wide receiver injury concerns are increasing as MNF gets closer

The good news: Christian Watson will make his third start since returning from a torn ACL. He will likely remain on a snap count but continues to make progress. Dontayvion Wicks could also return from a calf injury.

However, Watson and Wicks are unlikely to play full-time roles in this game, and the Packers could also miss Matthew Golden, Savion Williams, and Malik Heath.

LaFleur isn't concerned about Golden's long-term status after the rookie suffered a shoulder injury last week, saying he's day-to-day. The problem? He went from limited practice on Thursday to not participating at all on Friday, an ominous sign for MNF.

Williams is dealing with a foot injury, while the Packers added Heath to the injury report on Friday due to a hip problem. And let's not forget that Green Bay remains without Jayden Reed, who will likely miss at least another three or four weeks.

It's easier to name the Packers' wide receivers not on the injury report: Romeo Doubs. End of list.

Green Bay has four receivers on the practice squad: Jakobie Keeney-James, Isaiah Neyor, Will Sheppard, and Michael Woods II. Whether the Packers promote any of them to the active roster this weekend will give us a clue about the injury situation entering Monday night's contest.
