The Green Bay Packers will almost assuredly be trying to trade for impactful players in the days leading up to the 2025 NFL trade deadline, and the Tennessee Titans might be willing to provide them with the lottery tickets they are looking for after firing coach Brian Callahan.
At the point, the Titans' roster is the football equivalent of a decrepit wewe that is so deprived of talent that a major offseason exorcism is needed. In the short term, look for the Titans to sell off some role players and expiring contracts to contenders in need of the extra depth these additions can provide.
According to NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, Tennessee is not going to deal star defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons. However, Fowler was quick to note that pass rusher Arden Key, cornerback Roger McCreary, and tight end Chig Okonkwo could all be traded before the deadline.
Of those three players, McCreary would clearly be the best fit of the three as it pertains to the Packers specifically. Green Bay needs to get on the phone with the Titans and see if a Day 3 NFL Draft choice might be enough to push Tennessee into a complete remaking of their secondary.
Packers must consider trade for Titans CB Roger McCreary
McCreary has had a weird career in Tennessee, as the former second-round pick has vacillated between the starting lineup and the bench in his time with the Titans. At his best, McCreary is a slot cornerback who could tackle well in open space.
While the Packers' defense has generally been quite impressive, stalemate against the Dallas Cowboys notwithstanding, the weakest part of this unit is a secondary that is both very young and not the best when it comes to tackling. Defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, a former defensive backs coach, will take all the help he can get.

McCreary is not going to cost very much due to his expiring contract, and the Titans could be a very motivated seller. With Jarvis Brownlee Jr. having made some plays after being traded to the New York Jets, being sent away from Tennessee might be all McCreary needs to step on the proverbial gas pedal and make some improvements as a player.
McCreary is not only going to provide much-needed depth at a very important position, but this could give the Packers front office an up-close and personal look at the soon-to-be free agent as they try to assess his potential as a 2026 backup.
