Packers draft picks they got right: S Anthony Johnson Jr.

Talk about draft-day steals. Iowa State safety Anthony Johnson Jr. was also projected to go earlier than the seventh round, where the Packers gladly selected him. Yes, he's a seventh-rounder, but make no mistake about it, Johnson is a talented player with starting potential.

The former cornerback made two interceptions and four pass defenses in his final season at Iowa State. He can help the Packers' special teams, but he could also get snaps on defense early on.

"Johnson's traits, versatility and toughness give him a chance to become a starting safety or nickel safety," wrote Lance Zierlein of NFL.com.

Not only is Johnson a talented player, but he is also a great athlete. He has a Relative Athletic Score of 8.13 out of 10.

It's surprising Johnson didn't go much earlier in the draft, but the Packers won't care. They have added an excellent athlete with the potential to become a starting safety. He has experience at cornerback, and even if he never becomes a regular starter, can provide help as a backup who can also contribute on special teams.

Johnson in the seventh round may end up being the Packers' best pick of the entire draft this year.
