The Jordan Love era gets underway this season, but what if things don't go to plan? What options could the Green Bay Packers have if Love misses time due to injury?

It's something the Packers hope won't happen, but it must be considered.

Over the past three years, the Packers haven't had to worry about their backup quarterback position. Love has provided cover for Aaron Rodgers when needed.

But with Rodgers gone and Love promoted to QB1, the Packers need to consider their options should Love get injured this season. Let's look at three options the team has.

Packers could start with Sean Clifford

As things stand, Sean Clifford is likely the Packers' backup quarterback. If it stays that way into the regular season, he would be the next man up at quarterback should Love miss any time.

If Love is only due to miss a game or two, starting with Clifford would make the most sense as opposed to bringing in another quarterback.

However, it would be a risk. Clifford is a fifth-round rookie with zero NFL experience. Expecting him to be ready to start this season is a big ask.

Not even Love, who the Packers traded up to draft in the first round, was given backup duties as a rookie. He sat behind Tim Boyle as the third-string quarterback in 2020.

But this is a team building for the future. Clifford could gain vital experience covering for Love, and the Packers wouldn't have to use cap space to bring in a veteran.
