2. Vikings sign former Packers defensive tackle Dean Lowry

Death, taxes, and the Minnesota Vikings signing Green Bay Packers free agents. It's a hilarious yearly tradition.

A year ago, the Vikings signed former Packers Za'Darius Smith and Chandon Sullivan. They have made a habit of signing former Packers, going all the way back to when they signed Brett Favre and Greg Jennings.

This offseason, it was Dean Lowry's turn to swap Green Bay for Minnesota.

Lowry wasn't the only Packers free agent to stay in the NFC North this offseason. Tight end Robert Tonyan, who played in 68 games for Green Bay, signed with the Chicago Bears.

The Packers chose not to re-sign Lowry this spring. He is coming off a disappointing final season in Green Bay. He made only 0.5 sacks, the second-fewest of his career, along with five quarterback hits. Lowry was outplayed by rookie Devonte Wyatt, which may have helped the Packers make up their mind about whether to re-sign Lowry this offseason.

Green Bay needed to improve its defensive line. That involved not re-signing Lowry and giving more opportunities to Wyatt.

The Packers chose to move on from Lowry this offseason, and they will now play against him twice a year for the Vikings.
