3 pending 2024 free agents Packers fans should worry about losing
2. Keisean Nixon
Keisean Nixon earned a nice pay rise after his All-Pro season, landing a one-year, $4 million deal with the Packers this past spring. Green Bay managed to reach an agreement with its star special teams player before he became a free agent, but his new deal only lasts one season.
Nixon adds huge value to the Packers' roster, not only on special teams but also to the defense.
He is set to start at slot cornerback this season. Nixon has impressed in this position throughout the offseason program. He is perfectly suited to land a full-time role in the slot.
Nixon is also one of the league's best returners, having earned first-team All-Pro honors after leading the NFL in kick return yards last season.
The Packers have strong cornerback depth on the outside, but not in the slot. Rasul Douglas and Eric Stokes need to play on the outside. Jaire Alexander can play inside, but he is a lockdown corner and shouldn't be limited to just playing in the slot.
The Packers will go back to square one if they lose Nixon. Who would be their slot cornerback in 2024? Green Bay would also take a huge step back on special teams.
