3 Packers in danger of losing their job after minicamp
The Green Bay Packers' offseason program is coming to an end. After a team-bonding exercise later this week, the players will get their summer break before training camp next month.
Everything will shift up a gear when training camp and the preseason rolls around, but some players have already made a strong case for a roster spot during the offseason program. As ever, there is fierce competition for places on the 53.
Some players have dramatically increased their chances of making the roster over the past few weeks, while others are in danger of missing out.
Which three Packers players could face an uphill battle to make the roster this summer?
Packers Rumors: 3 players who could miss out on roster after minicamp
Green Bay will likely keep five or six cornerbacks on the 53-man roster. Jaire Alexander, Rasul Douglas, Eric Stokes, and Keisean Nixon make up the top four. That leaves one, possibly two spots at the position.
Rookie Carrington Valentine has been impressive during the offseason program, earning praise from head coach Matt LaFleur.
Paul Bretl of Packers Wire noted that Valentine and Corey Ballentine were the backup boundary cornerbacks at practice on Tuesday.
Kiondre Thomas is also in the mix at cornerback. He was excellent last summer.
Shemar Jean-Charles can provide cover in the slot, and that may be his best shot at making the roster, but it could be difficult for him to make the 53. He needs to perform well at training camp and in the preseason.
