2. Lew Nichols III, RB

It's unlikely the Packers will keep more than three running backs on their 53-man roster. They began last season with only two.

We know the top two will be Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon. The competition at training camp will be for the No. 3 job. Working in Lew Nichols' favor is that he was a draft pick this offseason, but he faces competition from Patrick Taylor and second-year Tyler Goodson.

Goodson has been impressive so far this offseason.

Nichols needs to make an impact at training camp and in the preseason, or he could miss out on the 53-man roster, although the Packers could still bring him back to the practice squad.

The rookie is a talented player, so there's every chance he outperforms Taylor and Goodson over the summer. In 2021, Nichols rushed for an outstanding 1,848 yards and 16 touchdowns, averaging 5.4 yards per carry.

Just as important to make the Packers' roster is pass protection and special teams. Green Bay needs its third running back to do both. Nichols must prove he is good enough in those areas to make the roster ahead of Taylor and Goodson.

The running back battle will be fascinating to watch at training camp, but there's no guarantee Nichols will make the roster, despite being a draft pick.
