Packers hope Dalvin Cook doesn't sign with Panthers

Dalvin Cook signing with the Carolina Panthers wouldn't be the worst-case scenario, but it's also not a great landing spot from a Packers perspective.

Carolina has enjoyed an excellent offseason. With the addition of first overall pick Bryce Young, the Panthers could enter the playoff race this year. They could compete for the NFC South title or a wild-card berth. If it's the latter, they may provide competition for the Packers in the conference.

Not only could the Packers face competition from the Panthers in the wild-card race, but the two teams also meet on Christmas Eve. It could prove to be a crucial matchup in the NFC standings.

If the Panthers sign Dalvin Cook, this matchup becomes far more challenging for Joe Barry's defense.

The Viking Age's Adam Patrick listed the Panthers as a dark horse landing spot for Cook. And it makes sense. A great way to help your rookie quarterback is to add Miles Sanders and Dalvin Cook to the backfield.

The Panthers also brought in wide receivers Adam Thielen, DJ Chark, and Jonathan Mingo this offseason. They are building a talented offense around Young.

Green Bay will hope its defense doesn't have to find a way to stop Dalvin Cook in late December.
