4 Green Bay Packers who won't make the 53-man roster in 2023
The Green Bay Packers may have had a quiet free agency period, but they will be adding talent to their roster in the 2023 NFL Draft, creating competition at various positions.
Green Bay has double-digit picks in this year's draft, giving the team plenty of opportunities to address its biggest positions of need.
Which four Packers players may struggle to make the 53-man roster this summer?
4 Packers who won't make the 53-man roster: QB Danny Etling
As things stand, Danny Etling is the Packers' backup quarterback. Green Bay's only two quarterbacks currently are Jordan Love and Etling.
There's no way the Packers don't add another quarterback between now and training camp. They could use a draft pick at the position or sign a veteran in free agency.
It's hard to imagine the Packers entering the season with Etling as their backup quarterback. Etling has been on seven different NFL teams but never thrown a pass in the regular season.
As Green Bay will likely only keep two quarterbacks on the roster, Etling would need to win the backup job ahead of either a draft pick or free-agent addition.
Etling may get a chance to prove himself in the preseason, but it's unlikely he will make the Packers' 53-man roster after training camp.
