3. Detroit Lions draft Devon Witherspoon at No. 18

Thanks to the Matthew Stafford trade, the Detroit Lions have the luxury of picking twice in the first round. Detroit has made a bunch of smart decisions the past couple of offseasons, so it will come as no surprise if it lands two difference-makers on the opening night of the draft.

The Lions could select a top pass rusher like Tyree Wilson out of Texas Tech with the No. 6 pick. They still need at help at cornerback, which could come into play at No. 18.

An absolute nightmare scenario for the Packers, and the rest of the NFC North, would be Illinois' Devon Witherspoon falling to the Lions at No. 18.

Witherspoon should go before then. He could go in the top 10. Maybe the Lions will pick him at No. 6. But some mock drafts have the 2022 Tatum–Woodson Defensive Back of the Year falling to the Lions' second pick of the first round.

He is one of the top cornerback prospects in a deep class and would fix a major area of need in the Lions' secondary.

Detroit has the chance to draft a dominant defensive player at No. 6. Note to teams picking between 7-17: Don't let Witherspoon fall to the Lions.
