1. Hendon Hooker, QB, Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions have rebuilt their roster well over the past couple of seasons. The missing piece could be quarterback.

While veteran Jared Goff is coming off a solid season in Detroit, for the Lions to take that next step, they needed to draft their quarterback for the future. The Packers will be pleased the Lions didn't land one of the top prospects at the position like Florida's Anthony Richardson, but they did draft Tennessee's Hendon Hooker in the third round.

It's an ideal landing spot for Hooker, who is recovering from a torn ACL, as he won't be rushed into a starting job. He will be able to learn from Goff in year one, with the chance to take over as the QB1 a season or so from now.

Bucky Brooks of NFL.com had Hooker third in his quarterback rankings, ahead of fourth overall pick Anthony Richardson, writing that Hooker is "one of the more polished quarterbacks that you'll find when it comes to throwing with anticipation."

The last thing the Packers, Bears, or Vikings need is the Lions finding a talented young quarterback to lead their offense.

Hooker might never become a superstar quarterback, but the Lions have given themselves an opportunity of finding their long-term starter by drafting him in the third round.
