When we think they'll zig, the Green Bay Packers zag.

Whether it's drafting a first-round quarterback just months after playing in the NFC Championship Game, or selecting an inside linebacker and defensive lineman when the world thought it would be a wide receiver, expect the unexpected.

The Packers have made some bold moves in recent draft classes.

It's time to predict five more for 2023.

5. Packers leave wide receiver until Day 3 of the draft

Even if Christian Watson is the future star the Packers believe he can be, and Romeo Doubs is a great WR2, Green Bay needs to draft multiple wide receivers.

In a little over a year, the team has lost Davante Adams, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Allen Lazard, and presumably Randall Cobb. The Packers also moved on from Sammy Watkins and Amari Rodgers during the 2022 season.

That leaves them without any depth.

Adding an early-round receiver like Jaxon Smith-Njigba makes all the sense in the world, but we shouldn't count on it.

In fact, the Packers may avoid the position in the opening three rounds altogether. They can still find talent on Day 3. Maybe A.T. Perry out of Wake Forest or Virginia's Dontayvion Wicks falls that far. Green Bay could also add a veteran receiver.

Wide receiver has been a need most offseasons under Brian Gutekunst. He has drafted seven receivers -- Christian Watson and Amari Rodgers are the only two selected earlier than the fourth round.

Receiver is an even bigger need now, but the Packers may wait again.
