5 free agents Packers should sign after NFL Draft: S Adrian Amos

Safety was near the top of the Packers' list of needs this offseason. While they added depth in free agency and drafted Anthony Johnson Jr. in the seventh round, it's still a position they could upgrade.

We named free-agent John Johnson as a potential option for the Packers. A player that would make even more sense is Adrian Amos, who has started all 71 games for Green Bay, postseason included, since he signed in 2019.

"We're not going to close the door on that. Adrian's done such a nice job for us over the last four years," Gutekunst said after the draft. "We've been in communication with him along the way, so we'll see where that goes."

Amos has offered incredible consistency in the secondary over the years. He knows the system and rarely misses time. The Packers know they can trust him to start every week, make plays, and rarely make mistakes.

In the meantime, the Packers can develop Johnson and shift their attention to adding another safety in next year's draft, especially with Darnell Savage set to become a free agent. Amos returning would ensure the Packers have a steady presence in the secondary who can still play at a high level.
