3. Detroit Lions

1. Losing CJ Gardner-Johnson

The Detroit Lions' secondary really couldn't afford to lose CJ Gardner-Johnson, and yet, here they are. He had the best year of his career in 2023, posting his highest PFF grade ever (72.2) while holding QBs to a passer rating of 50 on plays where he was targeted, committing just one penalty, and not allowing a single touchdown.

Now they'll have to play some combo of Carlton Davis, Amik Robertson and Emmanuel Mosey on the outside, none of which had particularly good seasons in 2023.

2. Losing Jonah Jackson

Maybe the Lions think they can find a better left guard – especially after last season – but it'll be interesting to watch how quickly they're able to replace guys now that the secret's out about their O-line.

Though he's missed time in each of the last two seasons, Jackson started in every game he played for the Lions, and was one of the team, and league's best run blocking guards from 2021-2022. You can maybe understand the Lions not wanting to meet the $51 million that the Rams ended up signing him for, but that doesn't make it any easier to figure out who's going to replace him.
