Adam Schefter reveals Jordan Love's status for Packers vs. Vikings in Week 4
It's the news we've all been waiting for. Jordan Love is set to make his return from injury for the Green Bay Packers' divisional showdown with the Minnesota Vikings in Week 4.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Love is expected to play against the Vikings on Sunday.
When Love suffered a sprained MCL in the Packers' season opener in Brazil, fans couldn't have hoped for a better outcome. He missed two games, but Green Bay found ways to win both while also getting creative with the game plans, unlocking a few new tricks they can use even after Love's return.
They were undefeated in his absence, and now Love is expected to rejoin the lineup after only two games, just in time for a huge game against the Vikings.
Jordan Love's return from injury comes at the perfect time for Packers
Love's return comes just 23 days after suffering the injury in Brazil. Based on initial reporting, it was expected he would miss at least three games and potentially as many as six. The $220 million quarterback has beaten those estimations, while the Packers have won every game in his absence. It's the best-case scenario.
With Love likely still not at 100 percent, head coach Matt LaFleur will need to carefully consider the game plan for Week 4. Per Pro Football Reference, Brian Flores's defense has the second-highest blitz percentage in the league, sending five or more defenders on 39.3 percent of dropbacks.
The good news is that Green Bay has proven it can run the football, even when defenses know it's coming. LaFleur's offense leads the league in rushing yards through three games and averages 5.5 yards per carry, which ranks second.
The Packers can also pass-protect. They have PFF's second-highest pass-blocking grade, with the line only being credited with allowing one sack. Right tackle Zach Tom is playing at an All-Pro level—he hasn't allowed a single sack, pressure, hit, or hurry. Nothing at all.
Through a combination of running the ball and utilizing the quick-passing game, the Packers can cool a fierce Vikings pass rush.
Malik Willis was outstanding, but Love's return is incredible news for this offense.
