Best memes and tweets after the Green Bay Packers selected Iowa pass rusher Lukas Van Ness in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Fans have reacted to the Green Bay Packers picking Iowa edge rusher Lukas Van Ness in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. And many aren't too pleased.
The Packers had the opportunity to draft any wide receiver or tight end in the class, but they opted to stick with defense. Of course they did.
As expected, the decision to pass on an offensive player hasn't gone down too well.
The Packers traded for the No. 13 overall pick earlier this week as part of the Aaron Rodgers deal. The selection originally belonged to the New York Jets, but the two teams swapped their first-rounders, meaning Green Bay moved up a couple of spots.
Packers fans have given their thoughts on Twitter. Here's a look at some of the best memes and tweets from Packers fans reacting to the team's first-round choice.

I don't hate the Lukas Van Ness pick, but Brian Gutekunst really just passed on Jaxon Smith-Njigba pic.twitter.com/D5w173EAAA

Look, I like Van Ness. He’s a versatile player who likely has his best football ahead of him. But it’s a little underwhelming at first blush only because they take defense in round one EVERY YEAR.

Great introduction to playing QB for the Packers for Jordan Love.

What was the point in even swapping picks from 15 to 13 then?

I don’t even dislike Lukas Van Ness, he’s a good player.

But for the love of Jordan Love, would it kill the Packers to invest in the offense?
Look, Van Ness is a pretty good player. I like and understand the pick. It's not what I would've done, but I get it.

Yeah, Packers fans aren't too happy about passing on Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
The 2023 NFL Draft has only just got started, but it has been a fun ride so far.
The Houston Texans pulled of a huge move to kick things off. After selecting Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud with the second overall pick, they moved up to third overall to select Alabama edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. A blockbuster trade to begin the first round of the draft.
Good news for the Packers is that Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson went fourth overall to the Indianapolis Colts, which meant neither the Detroit Lions or Minnesota Vikings were able to trade up for him. That's good news for the Packers, as it keeps a potential star quarterback out of the NFC North.
