Just like that, the Green Bay Packers have added not one, but two pass catchers to help Jordan Love.
After selecting tight end Luke Musgrave earlier in Round 2, the Packers doubled-down on offense by picking Michigan State wide receiver Jayden Reed.
It was a surprising pick by the Packers, and one few saw coming. Green Bay typically goes for bigger receivers, but there's no doubt they needed a player like Reed. With his speed and yards-after-catch ability, Reed can be a game-changer in Matt LaFleur's offense.
He immediately provides much-needed depth to the receiving corps and can be a nice complement to Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs.
Packers fans, analysts, and the world gave their response. Overall, the reaction has been a positive one.

Jayden Reed is an excellent, excellent prospect. Been my middle round guy all year but man, I did not think he was gonna go 50. Before Hyatt, Tillman, Downs! The Packers got a great one.

LOVE this pick for Green Bay https://t.co/P4yZXZUIB3 pic.twitter.com/RGB6JTGOsV
I don’t think it’s far-fetched to say Jayden Reed has the highest floor of Green Bay’s 3 selections so far.

This is an instant-impact starter and a massive help for Jordan Love.
I clearly need to watch more Jayden Reed because a lot of people seemed to see a very different player than what I saw.

I think I only watched two games, so will have to go back to the tape.
Happy to be wrong!
Really love the Luke Musgrave pick. Not sure how I feel about Jayden Reed.

Reed can be a nice deep threat

The Packers have a talented young wide receiver corps featuring four draft picks from the past two years: Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, and Samori Toure. We can add new tight end Luke Musgrave to the mix, too. It's an exciting young receiving corps to work with new starting quarterback Jordan Love.
It will be interesting to see how the Packers get the ball to Reed. Will he play primarily in the slot?
Before making the Reed pick, Green Bay traded down twice, first with the Detroit Lions and then with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. By moving down from No. 45 to No. 50, the Packers netted two Day 3 picks in the fifth and sixth rounds. That's not bad business for Green Bay, who still landed a talented receiver after moving down.
The Packers will make one more pick on Day 2 of the 2023 NFL Draft, barring a trade. They are scheduled to pick at No. 78 overall in the third round.
