Best players remaining for Green Bay Packers on NFL Draft Day 3
The Green Bay Packers addressed their biggest positional needs on Day 2 of the draft, and they still have eight picks on Saturday, the most of any team.
Green Bay missed out on Iowa defensive back Cooper DeJean, but after trading down, landed the best linebacker and safety in the class with Edgerrin Cooper and Javon Bullard. The Packers upgraded the running back room with MarShawn Lloyd before adding even more linebacker depth with Ty'Ron Hopper.
The Packers are positioned nicely on the final day.
They have already addressed their top priorities, and there aren't any areas in desperate need of attention. It allows them to focus on adding good football players to the roster, and there's plenty of talent still available.
NFL Draft 2024: Best players available Packers should target on Day 3
- T.J. Tampa, CB, Iowa State
- Jaden Hicks, S, Washington State
- Khyree Jackson, CB, Oregon
- Devontez Walker, WR, North Carolina
- Brenden Rice, WR, USC
- Sedrick Van-Pran, C, Georgia
- Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, S, Texas Tech
- Jaylen Wright, RB, Tennessee
- Ja'Tavion Sanders, TE, Texas
- Khristian Boyd, DL, Northern Iowa
- Will Shipley, RB, Clemson
- Cedric Gray, LB, North Carolina
- Jordan Magee, LB, Temple
The Packers are clearly more comfortable with their cornerback room than most of us, but it would still be smart to add more talent to the depth chart, especially given their recent injury concerns.
It's a surprise to see Iowa State cornerback T.J. Tampa still available. He is perfect for Jeff Hafley's system, which will feature lots of press-man coverage. There's a good chance he will be gone before No. 126, but Green Bay should consider moving up to get him.
The Packers have addressed the safety position, but with Jaden Hicks still available, doubling down would make sense.
Green Bay will almost certainly add more depth to the offensive line. Brian Gutekunst wants competition across the roster, so there could also be opportunities to find good value at running back and wide receiver, even if they don't need to address those positions.
If Gutekunst wants to add more linebacker depth, there should be plenty of opportunities in the later rounds. Temple's Jordan Magee could make sense in Rounds 5 and later. He is a great athlete and can contribute on special teams.
