Bizarre bye week and 3 other observations from Packers schedule 2023
Packers schedule 2023: 5 primetime games
Many thought Aaron Rodgers leaving would result in a bunch of noon games for the Packers. Think again. They have been selected for five primetime games this season, six if we include the Thanksgiving Day matchup with the Lions.
Green Bay will play back-to-back primetime games early in the season, hosting the Lions on Thursday Night Football in Week 4 and then visiting the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football in Week 5.
In Week 13, the Packers host the Kansas City Chiefs. This game will be played on Sunday Night Football. A week later, the Packers take on the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium, which will be broadcast on Monday Night Football.
Finally, the Packers are set to visit the Minnesota Vikings in primetime on New Year's Eve. The Week 17 showdown will be played on Sunday Night Football.
Even without Aaron Rodgers at quarterback, the Packers remain a draw for primetime games. Maybe it's the huge fanbase that guarantees good viewing figures. Perhaps it's confidence the Packers will be playing in meaningful games this season.
Either way, the Packers will once again find themselves in the maximum five primetime games, along with playing on Thanksgiving Day.
