Packers could trade Aaron Jones

Aaron Jones is one of the Green Bay Packers' all-time great running backs. He ranks third all-time in franchise history for rushing yards and fourth for rushing touchdowns. Jones' career average of 5.1 yards per carry is unbelievably good.

Even more importantly, Jones is an amazing person. His incredible work off the field deservedly earned him a nomination for the NFL's Walter Payton Man of the Year award in 2022.

Jones staying in Green Bay for his entire career would be perfect, but it doesn't mean it will happen.

Brian Gutekunst has shown he isn't afraid to make tough decisions and move on from star players the fans love if he feels the time is right.

When could the timing make sense? Again, like with Bakhtiari, if the Packers find themselves out of contention as the trade deadline nears, what if a contender in need of a running back gives Gutekunst a call? Let's say the Buffalo Bills.

Jones would get an opportunity to win a championship elsewhere, while the Packers could add some draft capital and help their salary cap. Jones' cap hit rises to $17.17 million in 2024. Trading him post-June 1 this year would save $2.48 million immediately and almost $5 million more next season.
