Aaron Rodgers suffered a potentially significant injury on the opening drive of his New York Jets debut. Rodgers injured his ankle and had to leave the game on a cart. The Jets have already ruled him out for the remainder of their season opener with the Buffalo Bills.

It's sad to see. Rodgers had only attempted one pass on the opening possession before exiting the game. He knew something was wrong and couldn't continue.

A four-time MVP with the Green Bay Packers, Rodgers was traded to the Jets this offseason with hopes of winning a second Super Bowl on his new team. Hopefully, his injury isn't season-ending.

David Bakhtiari, Rodgers' former teammate with the Packers and close friend, blasted the NFL following the injury.

Many players don't like playing on artificial turf as they feel it is a greater risk of injury. Bakhtiari believes all games should be played on grass, and it's hard to disagree.

Rodgers' injury is the latest example of this. Bakhtiari sent a tweet directed to the NFL.

He makes a good point. If they plan to remove the artificial turf for the World Cup soccer games that will be played there in 2026, why do they not make a permanent change for the NFL? If it's too unsafe to play soccer games on artificial turf, why is the NFL any different?

Seeing Rodgers leave the field was hard to watch. Of course, Packers fans want Rodgers to play 65% of the snaps as it would land Green Bay a first-round pick, but it's sad regardless of that fact.

Rodgers looked genuinely happy after the trade to New York. The Jets have a team capable of winning the Super Bowl with good quarterback play. Hopefully, Rodgers doesn't miss much time and can return soon.
