Former Packers player 'looked great' at Vikings minicamp, and it's not Aaron Jones

It's hard to keep track of how many former Green Bay Packers play for the Minnesota Vikings.

Rule number one for the Vikings in free agency is to sign as many former Packers players as possible. This offseason, running back Aaron Jones took the opportunity to get revenge on the Packers less than a day after he was released.

Many former Packers players—including Dean Lowry last season—haven't been able to replicate their success in Green Bay after signing with the Vikings. Minnesota released Lowry after only one season.

But one former Packer is reportedly off to an impressive start, and we're not talking about Jones.

Robert Tonyan has been impressive for Vikings at minicamp

At one stage, Robert Tonyan had the chance to become a Pro Bowl tight end for the Packers. In 2020, he caught 11 touchdown passes and was dominant in the red zone. But he suffered a torn ACL the following season and was unable to recapture that form. He spent last season with the Chicago Bears but made only 11 receptions.

Tonyan gets another opportunity in the NFC North this season after signing with the Vikings, and he has reportedly made an impact this spring.

"Robert Tonyan has looked great in minicamp," writes The Athletic's Alec Lewis. "No hyperbole. Catching everything, snagged multiple passes in red-zone period today, outstretched arms, toe-tapping in corner of the end zone. Just impressive."

Of course, it's a shame Tonyan plays for the Vikings of all teams, but we wish him well. He was a fan favorite during his time in Green Bay and provided some memorable moments. Packers fans still wish Tonyan the best, even if he is playing for a division rival.

In fact, he will play six revenge games this season. Tonyan has previously spent time with all three of the Vikings' division rivals. Before signing with the Packers, he was an undrafted free agent with the Detroit Lions.

Hopefully, Tonyan will have a bounce-back season with the Vikings (as long as they still lose every game), just not when he is playing against the Packers.
