Grading the Packers offseason: Free agency, staffing, draft & more
Draft
The Packers got Jordan Love the help he needed, adding five pass-catchers and a running back throughout draft weekend. They also did plenty to help their defense.
Let's start there. Lukas Van Ness boosts the Packers' pass rush and enters the NFL with Pro Bowl potential. Green Bay landed two talented defensive linemen, Colby Wooden and Karl Brooks, who offer plenty of interior pass rush.
On offense, Gutekunst strengthened the wide receiver corps with Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, and Grant DuBose. Reed can start in the slot from Day 1, Wicks is an athletic big-play threat, while DuBose is a talented receiver to develop.
The Packers moved on from tight ends Robert Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis in free agency, replacing them with Day 2 draft picks Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft, two elite athletes with great size.
It was the perfect draft to help a young quarterback. The only exception was not drafting an offensive lineman.
Green Bay got a lot right, including on Day 3. Seventh-round safety Anthony Johnson Jr. was one of the draft's biggest steals. He has starting potential.
We'll only know how good the draft class is a few years from now, but this group has huge upside.
