Round 1: Packers now own pick no. 4

Just so we're clear, the beginning of the draft goes as follows: USC quarterback Caleb Williams at no. 1 (Bears trade out), Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison at no. 2 (Patriots) and Penn State offensive tackle Olu Fashanu at no. 3 (Arizona holds onto quarterback Kyler Murray).

With that top three, it is not absurd to see North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye dropping to pick no. 4, which is where the Packers come in with the previous trade offer.

. 441. . . Drake Maye. player. Drake Maye. QB. Drake Maye. 1

Green Bay makes the all-in decision to move on from Love after four seasons (one starting, of course) and, again, "reset the clock" so to speak. Maye gives the team a fresh rookie contract that they can use to their advantage, and hopefully they have already succeeded in utilizing funds in free agency at this point.

Coming into a situation where the Packers still need some help on the offensive line, Maye will at least have a young crop of receivers to work with -- featuring a ton of speed.

Maye stands 6-foot-4 with a prototypical build. He's got an NFL-quality arm with top-tier mobility. Now, that's something the Packers had been used to for years with Aaron Rodgers under center. Maye gives them the opportunity to see the same type of long-term success from a well-rounded quarterback that can make all the throws.
