Hall of Famer set to announce Round 2 draft pick for the Packers
The Green Bay Packers are scheduled to make three selections on the second night of the draft, including two early in the second round.
Green Bay owns the No. 42 selection, which came from the New York Jets in the Aaron Rodgers trade, as well as the No. 45 pick, which was its original second-rounder. The Packers will pick again at No. 78 in the third round.
Having upgraded the pass rush in Round 1 by selecting Iowa edge defender Lukas Van Ness, the Packers can now turn their attention to the offense on the second day, just as they did a year ago.
Twelve months ago, the Packers went all-defense on the opening night, selecting inside linebacker Quay Walker and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt, before picking wide receiver Christian Watson and guard Sean Rhyan on the second day.
The Packers will have a team legend announcing their picks in the second round.
Hall of Famer set to announce Packers Round 2 draft picks
Pro Football Hall of Famer and Green Bay Packers legend LeRoy Butler is scheduled to announce the team's picks in the second round.
Butler is an all-time Packers great. He was named a first-team All-Pro four times, a Pro Bowler four times, and helped the Packers win a Super Bowl. He was part of the NFL 1990s All-Decade Team, and is now a Pro Football and Green Bay Packers Hall of Famer.
Hopefully, Butler will be announcing the Packers' next Hall of Fame player on Friday night.
Packers draft needs: Who could they take in Round 2?
The Packers need to improve their receiving corps. Adding depth at wide receiver is a must, and they also need a new starting tight end to replace Robert Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis.
Round 2 is a great time to address both positions. Wide receivers like Tennessee's Cedric Tillman and Jalin Hyatt, Mississippi's Jonathan Mingo, and SMU's Rashee Rice are options.
At tight end, Iowa's Sam LaPorta, Georgia's Darnell Washington, and Notre Dame's Michael Mayer are players to watch.
