The Green Bay Packers entered the season with one of the deepest cornerback rooms in the NFL. That is no longer the case.

Trading Rasul Douglas before the deadline was a move for the future, but the Packers could pay the price in the short term.

Eric Stokes is still on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury. Now, Jaire Alexander is dealing with another injury, potentially leaving the Packers without much cornerback depth ahead of their Week 10 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

What does Jaire Alexander injury mean for Packers in Week 10?

Jaire Alexander has been battling a back injury for much of the season. That already makes life difficult for a cornerback. Now, he is dealing with a shoulder injury he suffered in last week's victory over the Los Angeles Rams.

Head coach Matt LaFleur said Alexander got "banged up" in that game. He didn't practice on Wednesday.

The Packers have a tough matchup against Steelers receivers Diontae Johnson and George Pickens this week. They then play against the Los Angeles Chargers, Detroit Lions, and Kansas City Chiefs -- three excellent offenses.

Losing Alexander for any length of time makes life difficult for Green Bay's secondary.

Rookie seventh-round pick Carrington Valentine would become the Packers' No. 1 outside corner. He is coming off a breakout performance against the Rams, so the Packers will have high confidence in him, but that's a lot of expectation to put on a rookie.

Next up on the depth chart are Corey Ballentine and Robert Rochell. The Packers signed Rochell off the Carolina Panthers' practice squad last month, and he has only played five special teams snaps since then.

Green Bay didn't trade Douglas for immediate results. The Buffalo Bills made them an offer they couldn't refuse. However, they will desperately miss Douglas if Alexander has to miss any time with his latest injury.
