There will be a new face in the backfield for the Green Bay Packers this season, as the team signed former Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs to a four-year $48 million deal this offseason. Green Bay is hoping that a fresh start in less dysfunctional surroundings will allow Jacobs to bounce back this season and prove he is still one of the best running backs in the league.

Jacobs is slated to take over the starting job for the now departed Aaron Jones, and the expectations for his arrival in Green Bay should be high despite having somewhat of a disappointing campaign with the Raiders last season.

After a lengthy holdout due to being the recipient of the franchise tag, Jacobs would go on to rush for 805 yards and six touchdowns in 13 games, all career-lows. With that being said, how Jacobs performed last season in Las Vegas should not be the expectation for his future performance in Green Bay. Jacobs has proved he is a much better back than what was seen last season, and he should return to his previous form now that he is with the Packers.

Josh Jacobs will bounce back in first season with Packers

Even though last year was a bit of a disaster for Jacobs and the Raiders, he has now entered a more stable organization that does not have an incompetent head coach and questionable quarterback situation. With Jordan Love and Matt LaFleur, Jacobs is now in a situation that will allow him to thrive and get back to being the player he once was before Josh McDaniels ruined everything in Las Vegas.

A proper offense and solid game plan on a weekly basis from LaFleur will not only help the above-mentioned Love perform at his highest level, but it will allow Jacobs to flourish as Green Bay's primary ballcarrier.

It will be the combination of sound quarterback play and a consistent offensive structure that will result in Jacobs getting back to the player he used to be, making the contract he signed in the offseason look like a steal for the Packers.
