The first quarter of the Green Bay Packers' home game against the Minnesota Vikings couldn't have gone much worse. Along with penalties, dropped passes, and turnovers, the Packers have lost star wide receiver Christian Watson to injury.
Watson suffered a scary-looking leg injury on Jordan Love's interception in the first quarter. He was immediately taken to the blue medical tent.
The Packers have quickly fallen behind in a crucial divisional showdown against the Vikings, but the concern now shifts to Watson's status. He is such a key player in Matt LaFleur's offense, and they can't afford to lose him for long.

In some ways, that could be considered good news, as the immediate concern in moments like this is for a serious knee injury. If the Packers are ruling that out, that's at least some encouraging news. But it still looked concerning.
Watson's value to this offense can't be understated. His presence on the field forces defenses to respect his speed and athleticism. He is also the team's best blocking receiver, making several huge plays during the Packers' two victories with Malik Willis. Watson has no ego when it comes to catching passes—all he wants is to win.
While Watson only has five catches for 80 yards and a touchdown this season, his impact has gone far beyond the box score. Green Bay shifted to a run-heavy game plan in the two games Love missed, and Watson made a huge impact in both games even when the ball didn't go his way.
The former second-round pick is one of Green Bay's most important offensive players. Along with his big-play ability, he blocks, gives his all on every play, and is the perfect teammate.
Hopefully, the Packers can get good news on the injury.
