One of Aaron Rodgers' favorite targets won't be returning to the NFL this season.

Randall Cobb enjoyed a legendary career with the Green Bay Packers and will go down as one of the team's greatest wide receivers. But after 10 years with the Packers and one with the Houston Texans, Dallas Cowboys, and New York Jets, Cobb is walking away from his playing career.

It seemed inevitable after Cobb made just five catches for the Jets last season. New York added veteran wide receiver Mike Williams and drafted Malachi Corley in the third round.

However, it's not the last we will see from Cobb.

Former Packers receiver Randall Cobb retires from NFL to join SEC Network

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Cobb is stepping away from his playing career to take a job as a college football studio analyst for SEC Network.

Cobb had an excellent NFL career that lasted over a decade, but it's great to see his next steps beyond playing football. He will be a great addition as an analyst and has so much insight to bring to the SEC Network coverage.

A former Packers second-round pick, it didn't take long for Cobb to become one of the most important receivers in Mike McCarthy's offense. He developed an unstoppable connection with Rodgers, with their best moments often saved for the crucial times. He created memories that will stick with Packers fans forever, including his fourth-and-8 touchdown to beat the Chicago Bears and win the NFC North with just seconds remaining. Cobb intentionally ran the wrong route when he read the coverage, and Rodgers found him.

Rodgers helped bring Cobb back to Green Bay in 2021, where he played two more seasons for the Packers, and the two reunited with the Jets last year.

On behalf of Packers fans worldwide, congratulations and thank you to Randall Cobb!
