Running backs

  1. Aaron Jones, Packers (88)
  2. David Montgomery, Lions (82)
  3. AJ Dillon, Packers (78)
  4. D'Onta Foreman, Bears (77)
  5. Jahmyr Gibbs, Lions (77)
  6. Khalil Herbert, Bears (77)

We have included six here as there is a three-way tie.

Aaron Jones is perhaps unlucky not to earn a 90+ rating, but he is the clear leader in the NFC North, which is accurate. David Montgomery at 82 is about right, and there can't be too many complaints about AJ Dillon's 77 overall rating.

What's interesting is that rookie Jamhyr Gibbs starts off with a 77 overall rating. That's a better rating than many second-year players at other positions.

Wide receivers

  1. Justin Jefferson, Vikings (99)
  2. Amon-Ra St. Brown, Lions (87)
  3. DJ Moore, Bears (86)
  4. Darnell Mooney, Bears (81)
  5. Jameson Williams, Lions (79)

Justin Jefferson is one of the league's best wide receivers and deservedly joins the 99 Club. Amon-Ra St. Brown and DJ Moore also have fair overall ratings.

The surprise is to see Jameson Williams, who made one catch in year one, earn a 79 rating. That's better than Christian Watson's 77. Watson dominated in his final eight games last season, scoring eight touchdowns.

Williams over Watson has to be based on where they were drafted rather than production in their rookie seasons.
