Matt LaFleur isn't fooling anyone with cryptic Jordan Love update for Week 4

Come on, Matt.

Matt LaFleur is still playing the "limited" game. Whenever he is asked about Jordan Love's status for Week 4, he just says his quarterback was limited at practice.

Look, it makes sense. The Green Bay Packers want to keep the Minnesota Vikings guessing who will start at quarterback in Week 4. LaFleur doesn't need to reveal any more information than what the injury report says, so he isn't.

"Yeah, he was limited," said LaFleur on Thursday. "We'll see. We'll give him up until game time."

Of course, he's doing the right thing. Why reveal any more information than that? He doesn't need to. The problem is that he's not fooling anyone, including the Vikings.

Vikings head coach expects Packers to start Jordan Love in Week 4

Minnesota still has to prepare for Malik Willis, which is why LaFleur is keeping the quarterback decision under wraps, but Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell is pretty confident that Love will return.

O'Connell appeared on the Rich Eisen Show and was asked a simple question: Do you expect to see Love?

"I do," said O'Connell. "I know how impactful Jordan Love is to their team. One of the best young quarterbacks in football. We've seen it firsthand. I do think we're going to see Jordan."

O'Connell admits that the Packers' stance forces them to also prepare for Willis and a different game plan, which is exactly why LaFleur isn't providing an answer. But make no mistake about it, the Vikings are expecting to see Love.

And we probably should, too. Love said he was "pretty close" to playing against the Tennessee Titans last week, while NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said he has a "very, very real shot" at returning against the Vikings.

The Packers are keeping things under wraps, as they should, but the plan may not work as well as last week. It felt like a true game-time decision before Green Bay visited Tennessee last week, but once the team decided to rest Love again, a return in Week 4 felt inevitable.

Love looked great in pregame warmups, which backed up his comments that he was close to playing.

Maybe Willis will start again, but all signs seem to point toward Love returning. Importantly, the Vikings believe they will see Love at Lambeau Field this week.
