Matt LaFleur provides cryptic update on Jordan Love injury
The Green Bay Packers' season opener couldn't have gone any worse. It's one thing to lose the game after countless unnecessary errors.
More importantly, the Packers may have lost their quarterback.
Jordan Love had received treatment for a calf issue in the second half but continued to play. Unfortunately, that was only the beginning of the story. With time running down and the Packers pushing for a game-winning touchdown, Love suffered a scary-looking injury while extending a play. It was unclear whether it was an ankle or knee issue, or even the calf he had already hurt.
Matt LaFleur provided an update after the game, if we can even call it that.
Matt LaFleur's cryptic answer gives a gloomy outlook on Jordan Love update
The first question in LaFleur's press conference was predictable. What's the latest on Jordan Love?
"I don't know. I don't know," said LaFleur.
Eh, that's not good.
LaFleur wasn't in any mood to answer questions on Love's status, but his lack of an answer may have told us everything we needed to know. Love walked off the field but needed help. Backup Malik Willis entered the game for the final desperation play.
Love battled a calf issue for much of the second half, and his accuracy reflected that. He finished the night 17/34 (50 percent) for 260 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. He almost threw a pick-six early in the third quarter.
He wasn't at his playoffs-best, even before the injury. But that no longer matters. His status for the rest of the season is now up in the air, and LaFleur's non-answer hasn't calmed any nerves.
The Packers leave Brazil with more questions than answers, and not even with their performance. Where do they go from here?
Love's status will determine the story of this season.
