Best offseason move: Landing DJ Moore in trade-down from No. 1 overall

The Bears began the offseason with the No. 1 overall pick and more cap space than any other team. They needed to make it count, and they sure did.

Going from worst to Super Bowl contenders in one offseason was never a realistic goal. Still, the Bears have significantly improved their roster over the past few months, enough to enter contention in a wide-open NFC North.

The Bears smartly traded away the No. 1 pick to the quarterback-needy Carolina Panthers, landing a significant return that included a boatload of draft picks and star wide receiver DJ Moore.

Chicago made plenty of moves to support young quarterback Justin Fields, including drafting right tackle Darnell Wright in the first round and signing guard Nate Davis.

The Bears upgraded their defense by signing linebackers Tremaine Edmunds and T.J. Edwards, fixing one of their biggest areas of weakness from last season.

Chicago made the most of its draft picks and cap space, taking a giant step in the right direction this offseason.
