1. Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions find themselves in an unusual position. They enter a season with high expectations. Detroit hasn't won the division since 1993 when it was the NFC Central.

Unlike in previous years where Lions fans have hoped they could make a run, there is now expectation for Dan Campbell's team. They finished last season strong, going 8-2 down the stretch and narrowly missing out on the playoffs.

This offseason, they have continued to strengthen on both sides of the ball.

Detroit has a new-look secondary after bringing in cornerbacks Cameron Sutton and Emmanuel Moseley and safeties C.J. Gardner-Johnson and Brian Branch.

The Lions also made changes on offense, trading away running back D'Andre Swift, who will be replaced by first-round pick Jahmyr Gibbs and free-agent signing David Montgomery.

Not only have the Lions rebuilt their roster well in recent years, but the NFC North has opened up. Aaron Rodgers' departure leaves the Packers' short-term future uncertain. The Vikings have plenty of questions still. The Bears have improved, but they have a long way to go after last season's 3-14 finish.

The Lions are expected to win a lot of games this season. We haven't said that often over the years. After their offseason work, they sit atop the NFC North power rankings.
