NFC North quarterback depth charts ranked from worst to best
2. Chicago Bears
Justin Fields, P.J. Walker, Nathan Peterman, Tyson Bagent
It's a make-or-break season for Justin Fields. The Bears have finally surrounded him with more talent, bringing in wide receivers DJ Moore and Tyler Scott and tight end Robert Tonyan this offseason. Chicago also upgraded its offensive line by drafting Darnell Wright in the first round.
Fields' passing numbers weren't great last season. He threw for 2,242 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, but he lacked receiving talent. Fields led all quarterbacks in rushing, finishing with an outstanding 1,143 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground.
Fields could make a huge jump in his third season with a stronger supporting cast.
Backup P.J. Walker has some starting experience in the NFL. His passing numbers aren't great, having thrown for 1,461 yards, five touchdowns, and 11 interceptions with a passer rating of 63.9.
For the Bears' offense to reach the next level, it all comes down to Fields. He has star potential. If Fields takes that next step, he could become the best quarterback in the NFC North and lead the Bears into the playoffs.
His rushing ability already creates problems for opposing defenses. Fields now has a better receiving corps to throw to. Can he take his game to the next level in 2023?
