3. Chicago Bears

Khalil Herbert, D'Onta Foreman, Roschon Johnson, Travis Homer, Trestan Ebner

The Bears lost David Montgomery in free agency, who had started 51 games across four seasons. They didn't make any major moves to replace him, signing D'Onta Foreman and Travis Homer to affordable deals in free agency before drafting Roschon Johnson in the fourth round.

It won't be surprising if Chicago opts for a running back by committee approach this season, and it has solid depth at the position.

Khalil Herbert and Foreman will likely lead the way. Herbert rushed for 731 yards and four touchdowns as Montgomery's backup last season. Foreman was excellent for the Carolina Panthers, rushing for 914 yards and five touchdowns at a healthy average of 4.5 yards per carry.

Herbert and Foreman could form a solid running back duo for the Bears, and it makes sense to split the majority of the carries between them.

The Bears were smart not to overpay for a running back in free agency. That rarely ends well. Instead, they have made some affordable moves to improve their depth.

It will be interesting to see where Johnson fits into Chicago's plans on offense. Could he eventually start for the Bears?
