This week, the Green Bay Packers play in their first Thanksgiving Day game for eight years and their first against the Detroit Lions in a decade.

Green Bay is coming off a big win over the Los Angeles Chargers, but this is a real test for Matt LaFleur's team. The Packers travel on a short week to take on the 8-2 Lions, and they could be without Aaron Jones, Jayden Reed, Luke Musgrave, Dontayvion Wicks, and Jaire Alexander, just to name some of the injured players.

The Packers haven't won a game on Thanksgiving since 2011. It will take a monumental effort to change that on Thursday against the Lions.

Green Bay's record on Thanksgiving Day isn't great.

Packers have one of the worst Thanksgiving records in the NFL

Here are the NFL standings based on win percentage in Thanksgiving games:

  1. Baltimore Ravens (1.00) - 2-0
  2. Houston Texans (1.00) - 2-0
  3. Carolina Panthers (1.00) - 1-0

  11. Indianapolis Colts (.625) - 2-1-1
  12. Buffalo Bills (.591) - 6-4-1
  13. Dallas Cowboys (.591) - 32-22-1
  14. Chicago Bears (.568) - 20-15-2
  15. New York Giants (.531) - 7-6-3

  20. San Francisco 49ers (.500) - 2-2-1
  21. Seattle Seahawks (.500) - 2-2
  22. Detroit Lions (.458) - 37-44-2
  23. Green Bay Packers (.417) - 14-20-2
  24. Denver Broncos (.364) - 4-7
  25. Washington Commanders (.333) - 4-8
  26. Arizona Cardinals (.304) - 6-15-2
  27. Atlanta Falcons (.250) - 1-3
  28. Pittsburgh Steelers (.250) - 2-6
  29. Cincinnati Bengals (.000) - 0-1
  30. Cleveland Browns (.000) - 0-3
  31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (.000) - 0-1
  32. Jacksonville Jaguars - Haven't played on Thanksgiving

What's interesting is the range of games each team has played. The Lions and Dallas Cowboys host Thanksgiving games every year, which means their division rivals also play in a lot of them.

The Carolina Panthers have played in one Thanksgiving game. The Jacksonville Jaguars never have. But the Arizona Cardinals have featured in 23.

The Packers have played in 36 but only have 14 victories. Thanksgiving football hasn't been kind to the Packers. Hopefully, they can break that trend against the Lions this week.
