In just two games, the Green Bay Packers have moved from a playoff position to an early first-round draft pick.

That's the unpredictable nature of this young Packers team. They are capable of defeating the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lions but can just as easily lose to the New York Giants and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

After suffering their second straight defeat in Week 15, the Packers moved from a playoff spot to almost a top-10 draft pick.

Packers are back in the mix for early first-round pick

The dream of landing a premier left tackle, cornerback, or wide receiver seemed over while the Packers were building a winning run. All of a sudden, it has become a reality again.

Here is the updated 2024 NFL Draft order entering Week 16:

  1. Chicago Bears - from Carolina Panthers (2-12)
  2. New England Patriots (3-11)
  3. Arizona Cardinals (3-11)
  4. Washington Commanders (4-10)
  5. Chicago Bears (5-9)
  6. New York Jets (5-9)
  7. New York Giants (5-9)
  8. Los Angeles Chargers (5-9)
  9. Tennessee Titans (5-9)
  10. Atlanta Falcons (6-8)
  11. Green Bay Packers (6-8)

  16. Pittsburgh Steelers (7-7)
  17. Arizona Cardinals - from Houston Texans (8-6)
  18. Buffalo Bills (8-6)
  19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-7)
  20. Minnesota Vikings (7-7)
  21. Los Angeles Rams (7-7)
  22. Indianapolis Colts (8-6)
  23. Jacksonville Jaguars (8-6)
  24. Cincinnati Bengals (8-6)
  25. Kansas City Chiefs (9-5)
  26. Houston Texans - from Cleveland Browns (9-5)
  27. Dallas Cowboys (10-4)
  28. Philadelphia Eagles (10-4)
  29. Detroit Lions (10-4)
  30. Miami Dolphins (10-4)
  31. San Francisco 49ers (11-3)
  32. Baltimore Ravens (11-3)

Plenty more twists and turns will come in the next three weeks of the regular season. The Packers will likely make the playoffs if they beat the Carolina Panthers, Minnesota Vikings, and Chicago Bears. Equally, a top-10 draft pick is possible.

Expect the unexpected with this young Packers team. Nothing is guaranteed, even with a matchup against the 2-12 Panthers on deck.
