Will re-sign: Rudy Ford

Three of the four safeties who have started for the Packers this year will become free agents in 2024: Rudy Ford, Darnell Savage, and Jonathan Owens. The team may make significant changes at the position, but if they re-sign one of them, it should be Ford.

Ford has looked comfortable as a starter in Green Bay's secondary, and not just this season. Last year, Ford started six games, making two interceptions, two pass defenses, and a forced fumble in those contests.

Ford makes life tough on receivers in his coverage, and he has proven time and again that he can make game-changing plays.

The Packers don't yet know what they have in rookie Anthony Johnson Jr. Will he be ready to start regularly in 2024? If Green Bay lets all three free-agent safeties walk, it could need to find two new starters in the offseason. That's not an easy task.

While they did make bold changes at tight end last offseason, there is a difference. Robert Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis hadn't done enough last year to prove they could remain reliable starters in 2023. Ford has this season.

The Packers likely need to draft a safety, but Ford can give them some stability next season.
