3 standouts and 2 duds from Thursday's Packers training camp practice
Standout: Tyler Goodson
Tyler Goodson's impressive training camp continued on Thursday as he aims to land the Packers' No. 3 running back job.
"Tyler Goodson having himself a day. He's made a couple long gains in open field, one a dump off from Sean Clifford in 2-minute drill, then a 38-yard run just now," writes Ryan Wood.
There is competition for the third running back spot, but Goodson has made an excellent start to the summer. He is making explosive runs and has also spent time in the slot and in the Tyler Ervin role.
Goodson has impressed on the practice field. If he can back it up in the preseason, the Packers will have no choice but to save a roster spot for him.
Dud: Anders Carlson
It was by no means a bad practice for Anders Carlson. He continues to show off his impressive power on kicks. Consistency remains the issue.
According to The Athletic's Matt Schneidman, Carlson converted four of six attempts on Thursday, including one from 54 yards that "might've been good from 60+."
But with misses from 41 and 47, Carlson's frustrating week continues. He has the power to make kicks from all distances, but to land the job permanently, he needs to improve his consistency.
