3 winners (and 2 losers) for Packers in preseason win over Bengals
The Green Bay Packers kicked off preseason with an emphatic victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.
A new era meant a different approach from head coach Matt LaFleur. In previous years, LaFleur had held several veterans out of the preseason. Not in this game. Just about everyone was out there for a couple of possessions, including quarterback Jordan Love and the first-team offense.
While it's only preseason, we learned more about this Packers team against the Bengals. There were plenty of positives, but it was far from a perfect evening for LaFleur's team.
Here are three winners and two losers from Friday's preseason victory.
Winner: Emanuel Wilson
Emanuel Wilson entered the RB3 conversation with an eye-catching performance against the Bengals.
Talk about making the most of an opportunity. Wilson turned six carries into 111 yards and two touchdowns, including an impressive 80-yard touchdown run.
"That was by far the best I would say he's looked. Any time you rip off an 80-yarder, that's a pretty good deal," said Matt LaFleur.
Wilson has a way to go to overtake Patrick Taylor and Tyler Goodson on the depth chart, but he couldn't have dreamed of a better way to kick off the preseason. It was a fantastic evening for the undrafted rookie, who has significantly boosted his chances of making the roster.
