3 winners (and 2 losers) for Packers in preseason win over Seahawks
Winner: Malik Heath
Malik Heath has to be a roster lock, right?
The undrafted wide receiver started for the Packers in this game, filling in for an injured Romeo Doubs. Notably, he was ahead of Samori Toure, considered by many to be the WR4.
Heath caught four passes for 35 yards, finishing an excellent preseason. Not only has he made impressive receptions, Heath has made plays as a blocker and contributed on special teams. It will be a huge surprise if Heath doesn't make the final 53-man roster next week, and he deserves a ton of credit for earning his spot this summer.
Loser: Royce Newman
One veteran who could miss the roster is Royce Newman, a former starter along the offensive line. It has been a preseason to forget for Newman, and he had two more penalties against the Seahawks. The Packers kept Newman in the game through the fourth quarter, a clear sign he is on the roster bubble competing for his spot.
Elgton Jenkins and Jon Runyan Jr. are the starters at guard. Sean Rhyan is likely ahead of Newman. Zach Tom can move inside if needed, and Myers can also play at guard.
Newman may still make the roster, but that's no guarantee. He hasn't helped his chances at all during the three preseason games, and he struggled again on Saturday afternoon against Seattle.
