Worst: Packers trade for Randall Cobb

It's a good job Brian Gutekunst is the general manager and not Aaron Rodgers. Gutekunst admitted that they likely wouldn't have traded for Randall Cobb without Rodgers.

"Obviously without Aaron, I don't think we would probably be pursuing that," Gutekunst said. "But this was a very important thing for Aaron, and that's why we did it."

Cobb is a Packers legend, one of Rodgers' all-time favorite targets, and has had a tremendous career in Green Bay. But bringing him back in 2021 didn't make a whole lot of sense.

The Packers had just drafted Amari Rodgers, who was expected to play in the slot. Bringing back Cobb reduced Rodgers' opportunities on offense.

Trading for Cobb cost the Packers a sixth-round pick, and they also had to take on his contract. According to Over The Cap, Green Bay is still paying $1.39 million in dead money this season, despite Cobb now playing for the New York Jets.

Cobb made some important plays for the Packers in the two seasons after returning to the team, but he didn't make a significant impact.

In 2021, he made 28 catches for 375 yards and five touchdowns. Last season, Cobb had 34 receptions for 417 yards and one touchdown.

Gutekunst made the deal for Rodgers, but it wasn't the best move for the Packers.
